  • Christie’s ‘Rare Watches’ Live auction in Geneva achieves a total of CHF 22.8 million / USD 25 million / EUR 21.6 million
  • A performance as strong as May 2021 (CHF 23 million / USD25.5 million)
  • Strong global participation from 26 countries, and just under 700 registrants.

Barely recovered from the extraordinary ONLY WATCH sale that achieved yesterday the performance of CHF 30 million under Christie’s hammer, the auction house continued the momentum with today's Rare Watches ‘Live’ auction confirming the strong appetite of international private collectors for exceptional timepieces.

Christie’s “Rare Watches” Live auction achieved a total of CHF 22,827,250 with 100% sold by lot and 192% above low estimate. There was strong global participation from 26 countries representing 5 continents. Over 690 registrants were active in the sale, of which 15% were new to Christie’s.

The most expensive Rolex Deep Sea Special N°1 sold this season in Geneva, achieved CHF 1,890,000. This watch is understood to have made history, attached to the hull of Auguste Piccard's bathyscaphe Trieste (3,150m) in 1953 and was considered the ultimate Rolex Oyster Case.

The Patek Philippe Ref. 2523, two crown world time, achieved CHF 2,670,000. Property of a gentleman, this extremely fine and highly important Patek Philippe is the first example of a 18k gold two crown world-time wristwatch with 24-hour indication and first time seen waved guilloché gold centre.
