REBELLION DAKAR 2022: a first week full of emotions

REBELLION DAKAR 2022: a first week full of emotions

Flashback! 48 hours before the start of the Dakar, Alexandre Pesci's car caught fire during the Shakedown. A chain of solidarity between drivers was then quickly formed. Romain Dumas offers the keys of his buggy to the Team manager. The Rebellion ambassador Nasser Al-Attiyah, in the wake of this, lent his Toyota, winner of major events in 2021 to Romain Dumas. Thanks to this generosity, all of them take the start of the prestigious rally-raid.

On a very technical course composed of tracks and dunes, Romain Dumas (#215) tamed his car and put in a series of good performances. However, after an insoluble gearbox problem, Romain Dumas was forced to abandon at the end of the 3rd stage. At the same time, Alexandre Pesci started the competition in a concentrated way and finished the first stage in position 42. Thanks to a great fighting spirit during the timed stages, he gets good results for a non-professional driver driven by the passion of racing.
A broken shock absorber made him lose time, but true to his motto of never giving up, he drove his car to the finish line of stage 5 and took the 75th place. The next day is another day. Starting 73, he crossed the finish line of the 6th stage with the 60th time, despite a complex course composed of a labyrinth of tracks and 40km of ergs to cross.
Alexandre Pesci finishes the week at the 59th place overall. His goal remains unchanged: finish the race of his dreams!

No round of observation for the Rebellion ambassadors, the champions attack the tracks during the 1st stage from Jeddah to Ha'il. Cyril Despres (#210) was 29th, 1'59" behind the day's winner: Nasser Al-Attiyah. One day follows another. On stage 4 of this 44th Dakar, Nasser Al-Attiyah signed the 44th podium of his career!
The Rebellion ambassadors got out of the traps set with panache. They are taking it easy on their cars before tackling the difficult second week of the event, while consolidating their position in the general standings: 1st place for Nasser Al-Attiyah, 20th for Cyril Despres.
